Waiting on Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog feature hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine which spotlights future releases that we may be eagerly anticipating. Here is my pick for the week:

Perfect Scoundrels (Heist Society #3) by Ally Carter

Katarina Bishop and W.W. Hale the fifth were born to lead completely different lives: Kat comes from a long, proud line of loveable criminal masterminds, while Hale is the scion of one of the most seemingly perfect dynasties in the world. If their families have one thing in common, it’s that they both know how to stay under the radar while getting—or stealing—whatever they want.

No matter the risk, the Bishops can always be counted on, but in Hale’s family, all bets are off when money is on the line. When Hale unexpectedly inherits his grandmother’s billion dollar corporation, he quickly learns that there’s no place for Kat and their old heists in his new role. But Kat won’t let him go that easily, especially after she gets tipped off that his grandmother’s will might have been altered in an elaborate con to steal the company’s fortune. So instead of being the heir—this time, Hale might be the mark.

Forced to keep a level head as she and her crew fight for one of their own, Kat comes up with an ambitious and far-reaching plan that only the Bishop family would dare attempt. To pull it off, Kat is prepared to do the impossible, but first, she has to decide if she’s willing to save her boyfriend’s company if it means losing the boy.

"Perfect Scoundrels" debuts February 5, 2013.

The all-star third-baseman quits the softball team, drops 20 pounds and starts making out with guys--a lot. Review Time! #11

The Story of Us by Deb Caletti
Cricket’s on a self-imposed break from her longtime boyfriend—but she’s picked a bad week to sort out her love life. For one thing, her mother’s romance is taking center stage: After jilting two previous fiancés, her mom is finally marrying Dan Jax, whom Cricket loves. But as wedding attendees arrive for a week of festivities at a guesthouse whose hippie owners have a sweet, sexy son—Ash—complications arise:
Cricket’s future stepsisters make it clear they’re not happy about the marriage. An old friend decides this is the week to declare his love for Cricket. Grandpa chooses to reveal a big secret at a family gathering. Dan’s ex-wife shows up. And even the dogs—Cricket’s old, ill Jupiter and Dan’s young, lively Cruiser—seem to be declaring war.
While Cricket fears that Dan is in danger of becoming ditched husband-to-be number three, she’s also alarmed by her own desires. Because even though her boyfriend looms large in her mind, Ash is right in front of her....

How come this is this first Deb Caletti book i've read! I think I need to go get some more of her books!

The Story of Us is the story of Cricket and Janssen. Cricket has just graduated high school, her mum is marrying Dan Jax and Cricket has no idea what she wants to do with her life after summer. The week of her mum's wedding Cricket has a choice to make with her life, Janssen is done waiting and Cricket has no clue on what to do.

This week everything seems to be happening, her best friend declares that he loves her, Ash, sweet sweet Ash, is rocking up another worry, her grandpa has a secret, she is worried about what to do with college and she is afraid that her mum will runaway from ANOTHER marraige. But mostly she doesn't know what to do with Janssen.

The story of Cricket and Janssen is told through a emails that the two exchange throughout the week of her mums wedding, their whole story is told while Cricket trys to make up her mind on what is right for her. Ash, complicates things for Cricket and well lets just say he a looker, a singer and can play guitar...

As Cricket decides on what her life holds, her four year relationship with Janssen or to move on with Ash. The story of their love is memorable and it can stand the distance between them. The use of their dog metaphors make you understand their love and what will happen.

This book to me was so easy to connect to as I am finishing school this year and also leaving close friends, family and boyfriend behind. The choices Cricket makes sticks with you and you understand why she does what she does and how everything around her influences her decisions. (God I'm sorry I'm sounding like an english essay, just finished my english exams!)

  • The Body at the Tower by Y.S. Lee. Loved this book and the Mary Quinn series cannot wait to get my hands on book three!
Bought:
  • Goddess Interruped by Amiee Carter. After reading the Goddess Test I knew I had to buy this one! Loving the series and looking forward to book 3.
  • Destined by Aprilynne Pike. The final book to the fairy series wings! I was sad to see this series end but I did get my final Tamani fix.
  • The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead. Well I must say this series keeps getting better! We see a different side to the characters and now the wait continues for The Indigo Spell *sigh*
Swapped:
  • Guyaholic by Carolyn Mackler. This seem interesting and intriguing cannot wait to find time to read this one!
  • Why we broke up by Daniel Handler. I must say that this book wasn't what i expected and was actually funny to read about why they broke up.

Review Time! #10

Hey guys, so for the inactivty lately been super busy with school and will hopefully be back posting more in the next two weeks!

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she's been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.

But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age–old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don't die. But it's her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.

When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney's loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she's supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she's been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.

Should she trust the Alchemists—or her heart? (from goodreads.com)

I couldn't wait for this book! I searched and searched every store that sold books until I got my hands on it and boy was it worth it. We start where bloodlines left off, Sydney is now head of the Palm Springs post, still watching over Jill now with Angeline (from VA academy series, she is from the keepers) and Eddie who still head over-heels for Jill at boarding school and Adrian *sigh*.

Thanks to Trey, Sydney finally starts to let loose and start thinking about dating (I could name a few people who she should be with) and meets Brayden, someone who rivals Sydney's brain. Sydney is still of course against magic whether Moroi or her own, but starts to get an open mind about it, which suprises me. There is alot more romance in this book than the previous and there is less attention to the "Vampire Hunters" which were discussed in bloodlines and was more towards Sydney and her "magical" ablilties and the relationships being formed.

The focus is now on spirit and the connections to strigoi. Dimitri and Sonya from YA are back conducting "expirements" on Dimitri and Eddie (Sonya and Adrain conducting the expirements). The way Adrain feels about Dimitri make him try and avoid these expirements and annoy him when ever he can.

The romance in this book is more complex and forbiden then before which drags you in. In TGL you see a different side of both Sydney and Adrain which is intriging and keeps you hooked until the last line. While there is still some action in it, it isn't alot which was depressing because i like all the action that comes with Richelle Meads books. However there is still some action.

Today the title for book 3 was released: The Indigo Spell! Cannot wait until February next year!

Rate: 4.5/5 (loses 0.5 for less action)

Review Time! #8

Until I Die by Amy Plum

My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.

Kate has chosen to leave the comfort and safety of her human life in order to join Vincent in the dangerous supernatural world he inhabits. For his part, he has sworn to go against his very nature and resist the repeated deaths that are his fate as a revenant - even though it will bring him immeasrable suffering.

Desperate to help him, Kate's search for answers takes her from the glamorous streets of Paris to the city's squalid underbelly. But when she stumbles across a secret that could help to overthrow their enemies for ever, Kate unwittingly puts everyone she loves at risk. And puts herself in the midst of an ancient and deadly war, not as a bystander... but as a target. (from back of cover)

About the book:
Until I Die is second book in the revenants series following Die For Me. Kate and Vincent are back along with the mysteries and romance. This time the Numa are hiding, not attacking after Kate (and Vincents spirit) killed the head of the Paris Numa, Lucien. Charles and Charlotte are moving to another revenant house after Charles death wish only to be replaced by Arthur and Violette two 500-year-old revenants.

This time Vincent is once again hiding a secret from Kate. Both of them are trying to find away on how to keep Vincent from 'dying' when saving people. Things are hard on both of them and this is adding to the dilema. Also Kate doesn't really trust the the two new revenants, espically after one of them gets her kicked out of a meating. With the danger increasing and Kate turning to her grandfathers books to find out more about revenants and how to stop them dying, she had trouble following her everywhere, even at home.

Kate and Vincent are both more developed as characters in this book. There isn't many love scenes between, but when there is they are great. The ending of the book, I didn't really see coming. I was completly suprised and was wrong on who I thought was the bad guy and the ending left me hanging on for more! Book 3 will be the final book in the revenants series. So everyone get out there and buy until I die!

Review Time! #7

Storm by Brigid Kemmerer:
Earth, Fire, Air, Water – they have more power than you dream.

Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her, Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys—all the ones she doesn't want. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water—just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.

And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.

Secrets are hard to keep when your life’s at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who’s hiding the most dangerous truth of all.

The storm is coming . . .(from goodreads.com)

About the book:Where do I start!?!? Four hot guys, each control an element, all single and one girl caught in the middle.

We follow the POV from Becca Chandler a girl whose repuatation has been ruined when her ex-boyfriend spread rumors about her to entire school, a non-existant father, has a best friend called Quinn and somehow finds her self in the middle of a fight between Chris Merrick and two older boys who want him dead.
There are four Merrick brothers are Michael, Gabriel, Nick and Chris. We follow Chris Merrick's POV along with Becca, Chris has a secret which is danagerous and could hurt Becca if she finds out. Chris is a water elemental, marked for death along with his three brothers. Being an elemental marks anyone for death, parents try to hide the fact that their childern are elementals because they are powerful and dangerous.

Now i did say before that their are four hot guys, well girls get ready to lift your book boyfriend levels to the limit! They are just that amazing! Why can't I have them all?

When Becca starts ending up everywhere Chris gets in trouble and then is threatened at her work Becca wants to know why they are after Chris and his brothers and now her. A new kid called Hunter stirs up trouble when has a good habit of turning up at the wrong and sometimes right time. The mysterious boy intriges Becca espically when he starts helping her first at a party and then after a car accident. But don't worry readers, Becca's and Chris lives are more intertwined then first thought.

The characterisation of this book makes it stand out so much more! Kemmerer makes each boy stand out and show that each of them are totally swoon worthy! Each character has a different attitude, a different way of thinking and Kemmerer has done this to create one the best YA-debuts I've ever read!

Get ready from some mysterious and loving boys to take you by storm.

Spark (elementals #2) will be out later this year!!!!!
