Review Time! #14

The Selection by Kiera Cass
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.(from goodreads.com)

The Selection is a cross of The Hunger Games and The Goddess Test, well thats what I think. However it was still a great read!

America only enters the Selection as a bribe from her mother and a plee from her boyfriend. America is a 5, her boyfriend a 6, meaning that her family would never go for it. America is a singer and a musician which is what a 5's family does while Aspen is a 6, a servant for 3's and 4's, he doesn't have a lot of money so he doesn't want America to have this life.

The Selection takes America to Prince Maxon's palace to compete for his heart with 34 other girls. But the thing is that America doesn't want to be there, she wants Aspen. However after insulting Maxon they become friends, he finds her different from the other girls as she likes all the simplistic things and as she helps him understand the sudden influx of girls in his home.

The characters are each unique and complex, America has her own style which the Prince loves so when the other girls try to copy her she changes it up so she is still unique. Maxon, you cannot help but fall in love with Maxon! He is sweet, caring and has NO idea how to act around females, it's kinda cute. Aspen, Aspen, Aspen we have a love/hate relationship, but your intruiging. The girls in the selection are each different and have their own way of acting whether like a bitch or a good friend.

The Selection is a great YA debut, one of the best I've read so far! So everyone get out their and go pick up a copy!

P.S the ending almost killed me, 2013 should hurry up just so I can see what happens!

Review Time! #13

Rapture by Lauren Kate
The sky is dark with wings . . . .

Like sand in an hourglass, time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past they must find the place where the angels fell to earth. Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this—live only to lose Luce again and again.

Yet together they will face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies . . . and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed. And suddenly Luce knows what must happen.

For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her—and the love she cast aside. The choice she makes now will be the only one that truly matters.

In the fight for Luce, who will win?

The astonishing conclusion to the FALLEN series. Heaven can’t wait any longer (from goodreads.com)

What an ending to a series that has had its up's and downs. Rapture is the final enstallment of the Fallen series and I advise to not read this review if you haven't read the other three books.

At the end of Passion we find out that Bill, Luce's announcer guide, is really Lucifer who is trying to erase the past and start again from the fall. It starts where Torment left off really with the adventures of Passion inbetween. They have nine days to find three relics to give them the location of the fall.

With the race across the world to find the three relics, the angels of heaven and hell unite together to stop Lucifer from erasing the past they face dangers from the outcasts, the scale and the elders (remember Miss Sophia from Fallen?) and Luce trying to remember her past lives and what she really is.

Luce is the key to knowing where the fall site is and is the only one who can stop Lucifer from erasing the past. There isn't much time for romance between Daniel and Luce as they are trying to stop the world from ending, but the final ending really brings out the fact that they are true soulmates.

Waiting on Wednesday #2

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog feature hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine which spotlights future releases that we may be eagerly anticipating. Here is my pick for the week:
Spark by Brigid Kemmerer

Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally.

Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t. Like the fire that killed his parents.

Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he’s not doing it.

More than Gabriel’s pride is at stake -- this could cost him his family, maybe his life. And no one seems to hear him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own.

Gabriel can’t let her guess about his brothers, about his abilities, about the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking.

The fuse is lit…

I don't need to say much about this one because everyone gets it when I say Merrick Brothers! After loving Storm I am not set on counting down the days until I can get Spark in my hands! It will be good to read from Gabriel's view after reading Becca's and Chris's. As you can see the countdown widget is on 55days until Spark is released :D
Spark is released in Australia on October 1 2012!

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
Griffins are supposed to be extinct. So when Yukiko and her warrior father Masaru are sent to capture one for the Shogun, they fear that their lives are over. Everyone knows what happens to those who fail him, no matter how hopeless the task.

But the mission proves far less impossible, and far more deadly, than anyone expects – and soon Yukiko finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in her country's last wilderness, with only a furious, crippled griffin for company. But trapped together in the forest, Yukiko and Buruu soon discover a friendship that neither of them expected.

Meanwhile, the country around them verges on the brink of collapse. A toxic fuel is slowly choking the land; the omnipotent, machine-powered Lotus Guild is publicly burning those they deem Impure; and the Shogun cares about nothing but his own dominion. Yukiko has always been uneasy in the shadow of power, when she learns the awful truth of what the Shogun has done, both to her country and to her own family she's determined to do something about it.

Returning to the city, Yukiko and Buruu plan to make the Shogun pay for his crimes – but what can one girl and a flightless griffin do against the might of an empire?

After seeing everyone rave on about the Stormdancer, I am actually intrigued by what this book will be like and wanting to read it!
Stormdancer is released September 1 2012!

That is my Waiting on Wednesday! What is yours this weekk?

Review Time! #12

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, while her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will - the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers to who she is and what she was born to do? As their search for the truth leads the three friends into peril, Tessa's heart is increasingly torn, especially when one of their own betrays them...(from goodreads.com)

At first was hesitant to read Clockwork Prince until Celine over at forget8me8not.blogspot.com convinced me to give Clockwork Angel a second chance and boy was she right! Unlike the first time I fell in love with clockwork angel and couldn’t wait to start clockwork prince that had been sitting on my shelf since I bought when it was released.
Love and lies can corrupt even the purest heart...

Clockwork Prince starts right where Clockwork Angel left off, Will doing things for Magnus Bane trying to break a curse that no-one knows about. The Enclave has given Charlotte and Henry two weeks to mind The Magister (Mortmain) along with the help of the Shadowhunters in the institute. Benedict Lightwood wants to take over the institute himself for a family feud between the Lightwood and Fairchild families or does he have another dangers motive?
Tessa, Tessa, Tessa I’m sorry but you annoyed me this book. I know you have a tough choice between Will and Jem but it seems like you are so confused you pick the first one that says I love you, to you. Not saying no more on that because I will just give it away.
Will believes that he is cursed that anyone whom he loves will die. Jem is slowly dying. Jessamine still wants out of the shadowhunter world. And Gideon and Gabriel Lightwood are at the institute to train Tessa and Sophie how to fight.
Will the chase is on to find Mortmain, the chase of Tessa’s love is also on. But will finding Mortmain answer the questions that Tessa is burning to find the answers too or will it lead to disappointment and betrayal by those who see loves the most?
Rate: 4.5/5
Also at the start of each chapters there are quotes from poetry and literature of the time, I can say that I knew some, I blame English for making me read the rime of the ancient mariner.  (I started getting annoyed at Will when he started to quote this)

Waiting on Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog feature hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine which spotlights future releases that we may be eagerly anticipating. Here is my pick for the week:

Perfect Scoundrels (Heist Society #3) by Ally Carter

Katarina Bishop and W.W. Hale the fifth were born to lead completely different lives: Kat comes from a long, proud line of loveable criminal masterminds, while Hale is the scion of one of the most seemingly perfect dynasties in the world. If their families have one thing in common, it’s that they both know how to stay under the radar while getting—or stealing—whatever they want.

No matter the risk, the Bishops can always be counted on, but in Hale’s family, all bets are off when money is on the line. When Hale unexpectedly inherits his grandmother’s billion dollar corporation, he quickly learns that there’s no place for Kat and their old heists in his new role. But Kat won’t let him go that easily, especially after she gets tipped off that his grandmother’s will might have been altered in an elaborate con to steal the company’s fortune. So instead of being the heir—this time, Hale might be the mark.

Forced to keep a level head as she and her crew fight for one of their own, Kat comes up with an ambitious and far-reaching plan that only the Bishop family would dare attempt. To pull it off, Kat is prepared to do the impossible, but first, she has to decide if she’s willing to save her boyfriend’s company if it means losing the boy.

"Perfect Scoundrels" debuts February 5, 2013.

The cover and sypnosis were released today on http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/ I cannot wait for this book! I love all of Carters books and next february cannot come quick enough! Not only is Perfect Scoundrels released by also the indigo spell by Richelle Mead along with the Beautiful Creatures movie!

Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally
After a scandal rocks their conservative small town, 17-year-old Parker Shelton goes overboard trying to prove that she won't turn out like her mother: a lesbian. The all-star third-baseman quits the softball team, drops 20 pounds and starts making out with guys--a lot. But hitting on the hot new assistant baseball coach might be taking it a step too far...especially when he starts flirting back.(from goodreads.com)

After loving Chasing Jordan I knew that this was the next sport related YA contemp I wanted to read! I love contemp reads and being the sporty person that I am I cannot resist a Sport Contemp! Stealing Parker will be released October 1 2012!

And thats my waiting on wednesday this week!
